How To PLay

Flag Football is a fast-paced and fun game that emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and skill. Here’s how to play:

Team Formation:

  • Divide players into two teams, typically with 5-7 players each.

  • Each player wears a flag belt with two detachable flags.

Starting the Game:

  • Teams decide who starts with the ball through a coin toss or mutual agreement.

  • The offensive team begins with a snap from the center to the quarterback at their starting position near the goalpost.

Gameplay:

  • The offense has four downs (plays) to advance the ball toward the opponent's goal.

  • Players can pass, hand off, or run with the ball, but blocking is not allowed.

  • Defenders aim to pull the flags from the ball carrier to stop the play. Once a flag is pulled, the play ends, and the ball is spotted at that location.

Scoring:

  • A touchdown is scored when a player carries the ball into the opponent's end zone or catches a pass in the end zone.

  • Optional: Add extra point attempts by passing or running from a designated spot after scoring.

Winning the Game:

  • The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Typical games last two 20-minute halves or until a predetermined point total is reached.

Rules and Safety:

  • Players must avoid contact, including tackling or blocking.

  • Flags must be visible and easily accessible for fair play.
