How To PLay

Croquet is a classic outdoor game that combines strategy and precision, played on a grassy lawn. Here’s how to play:

Positioning:

  • The game is played with two to four players, each using a mallet to hit colored balls through a series of wickets.

  • The balls are arranged in a specific order, starting at the designated “starting stake” and going through a series of wickets placed on the lawn.

Starting the Game:

  • Players take turns hitting their balls with their mallets, aiming to hit the ball through the wickets in the correct order.

  • Players must start by hitting their ball through the first wicket and continue through the course.

Gameplay:

  • The goal is to hit your ball through each wicket in the correct sequence and reach the final stake.

  • Players can hit other players’ balls to move them or send them away from the course.

  • If a ball goes through a wicket, the player gets an extra stroke.

  • Players may also “roquet” (hit another player's ball) and take an additional stroke from that point.

Winning the Game:

  • The player who successfully moves their ball through all the wickets and hits the final stake wins the game.

  • The game can also be played in teams, with each team taking turns to complete the course.

Rules and Safety:

  • Players must follow the order of the wickets, and hitting another player’s ball may change the course of the game.

  • Ensure the playing area is clear of obstacles and the grass is even for smooth play.

  • Use the mallet carefully to avoid injury.

Croquet is a fun and strategic game that encourages friendly competition and is perfect for outdoor events. Get ready for a game full of twists, turns, and surprises!
