How To PLay
Bocce Ball is a classic lawn game that combines skill, strategy, and friendly competition. Here’s how to play:
Setup:
Set up the playing field on a flat surface, about 60-90 feet long and 8-13 feet wide.
Place the smaller target ball (the pallino) at one end of the field to start the game.
Divide players into two teams: one with 2 players (each player gets 4 bocce balls) or a team of 4 players (each player gets 2 bocce balls).
Positioning:
Teams take turns throwing their bocce balls, aiming to get as close to the pallino as possible.
Players must throw from behind the foul line, which is marked on the field.
Starting the Game:
A coin flip or other method determines which team throws the pallino and starts the game.
The first team throws the pallino and then their first bocce ball, aiming for the target.
Gameplay:
The opposing team then takes their turn, trying to get their bocce balls closer to the pallino than the other team’s balls.
Teams alternate throwing their balls until all have been thrown.
The team with the bocce ball closest to the pallino earns points.
Additional points are awarded for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino than the opponent’s closest ball.
Winning the Game:
The team that scores points in a round is the one with the closest bocce ball(s) to the pallino.
The game continues until a team reaches a pre-determined score, typically 12, 15, or 21 points.
Rules and Safety:
Don’t step on the playing field or cross the foul line while throwing.
Bocce balls should be rolled, not thrown in the air or with excessive force.
Play with respect and enjoy the strategy of the game!
Bocce Ball is an easy-to-learn yet challenging game that brings people together. Gather your team and aim for the pallino!
